Instead of checking your social media first, check yourself first.
Social media is one of the big culprits of our digital addiction. It entertains us and it makes us feel “connected”. It’s one of the ultimate distractions of all time.
Should we knock it out of our lives?
Time: It is easy to fall into the eternal hole of social media browsing. Bit by bit, you get less time to live in real time.
Energy: Your physical and mental energy gets sucked away after being bombarded with countless notifications and forms of media.
Attention: You start to lose focus when social media is calling for you. You lose patience and cannot pay full attention to what’s in front of you.
Yes, you don’t need it. But whether you stop using social media or not, I think it is key to knock out the old version of how you used it and start a brand new relationship with it.
If used appropriately, then I believe it can be used like a good thing, a force multiplier for good.
